Session 2 The Seabourn Behemoth
Session 2 The Seabourn Behemoth
Campaign Notes – 2/17/12
Gerund goes in search of Kala and Zakir. The guards on deck dispose of a body and fail to notice Gerund. Gerund notices a blood trail leading to the crew’s quarters and goes to investigate.
In the room, Zakir strikes a sunrod and they see the beast with dressed in a kelp cloak. He’s a creature with gills and two extra tentacle-like arms that neither of them have ever seen. At the sight of the light, the ambassador hides behind a bookcase, preparing to charge. Kala attempts to speak with it, offering to leave it alone but the beast charges them and attacks. After several attacks from Zakir, the beast screeches in anger and pain. Kala screams about lions, apparently Zakir’s favorite majestic mammal, and he gains his strength back, apparently because he’s so fantastically excited about them.
The captain appears at the door and grapples with Kala, forcing the point of his sword to her throat. Kala eventually breaks grapple. Meanwhile, Gerund grapples with Mr. Bolo unarmed and manages to hold his own.
Zakir executes a precise strike and decimates the Ambassador, only to hear an unnatural sound from outside the cabin and the captain frantically ranting about how the party is all dead. Kala goes up the stairs to retrieve her items and is met with a deck filled with tentacles. She barely escapes with her life. After gathering everything, her cabin shakes. When she emerges, a massive chunk of the boat has been knocked out.
Gerund is single-minded in his pursuit of Mr. Bolo. As he tries to escape the boat, Gerund finds him and cuts the rope, knocking Mr. Bolo into the water with the giant tentacled sea-beast. He then goes after the captain, finding out that the Ambassador controlled the sea beast and that was why Freeman’s Ark always made it safely across the sea.
Herder attempts to battle the gut-wrenching smaller tentacles and is enveloped. In fighting them, he is tossed overboard and begins to grapple with the tentacles in the water. Things look dire.
Kala picks up a longsword from the deck and haphazardly swings it at tentacles at the side of the deck while Zakir attacks the beast from debris in the water and Gerund (finally) attacks the tentacles on the deck, hacking at them furiously. When the beast’s head emerges from the ocean, Gerund jumps on the head and tries to bury his sword in the creature’s head.
Herder is rescued from the water by Kala while Zakir and Gerund finish the beast.
The water, which is blackened with the blood of the sea-beast, is infested with sharks. They eat the survivors as they jump to escape the sinking remains of Freeman’s Ark. A storm rocks the whale carcass for days until all the party members are exhausted. They pass out and wake up on a beach.
Zakir, in taking off his robes to dry them, reveals that he does not have a brand like the rest of the party.
